This is the website for Greg McLaren, the London based theatre maker and performance artist.

Next up is Live Art Speed Date at the Land of Kings festival, 4th - 5th May, Dalston Boy's club.

After that, on 11th May there is a rather interesting thing happening at Stoke Newington International. some online content producers from Radio 1 are testing out a YouTube based magazine programme. It will feature some amazing up-and-coming bands and DJ's and YouTube superusers like Amazing Dan and Jeff is not on fire.

The idea is that viewers will see the main space at STK populated with people, some look like a band, there is a DJ corner, a woman who looks like she's about to show us a recipe is in a corner, other people just look strange. Viewers will be able to click on whoever they like, e.g., clicking on the DJ will take you to a video where s/he's playing and you'll also be able to download the mix. Clicking on the band will take you to a video where they are playing etc. Each vid will lead you to the same location, so it'll seem like they've burst into life.

THE FUN PART

I've suggested that we provide them with other, stranger, more interesting pieces of micro content. For example, in the main room viewers can see what looks like a man in a leopard costume. Click on him and watch as he (in close up) sleeks over to the fire extinguisher and gives it a lick, he goes to bite into it, and it turns out to be a rasberry fire-extinguisher-cake. Or, there is a painting of some horses in the nature on the wall, the viewer clicks it and jumps off to a video of a hand stroking a white horse by a lake. Or, a man stands there, clicking on him makes a big mouse-pointer arrow to attack him.

The audience is going to be young Radio 1 listeners so it has to be fun and surreal. So if you want to get involved in this project, all filming will be happening on the day, 11th May. So drop me a line (see concat in the link to the left) with any ideas you have. The guys expect somewhere between 200 - 250,000 views.
